The love of the game remains strong

03 Nov

The three top NBA stars of the Jordan brand came together to show their love of the game. The lockout has brought out so much concern and sadness for basketball fans. The players have been showing their skills in games, but in the Jordan brand “Love of the Game” commercial Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony showed that it doesn’t matter whether its professional or amateur, it’s all about the love of the game. I couldn’t agree more. Every NBA player should be able to play the game for his love of it and not just for a paycheck.

If you haven’t seen the commercial here it is:

Similar to the Jordan brand, Nike basketball has started a campaign called “Basketball Never Stops” behind their NBA athletes LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant. They show the same love of the game and show why the game can never die out.

Here’s Nike’s version of their love of basketball:

Do you think this commercial captured the true love that players should have for the sport? Why?

I like that you put a few videos in your post. I don’t know what “lockout” means but I have read about it in other blogs but I am glad to see that the athletes are still going strong and they are showing how much they love the game.

These were great. The lockout sucks so this was a great way for the players to remind the fans that even for them, it’s all about the game. Basketball is the greatest sport ever and all anyone wants is for people to keep playing it and for us to be able to watch it. I’m glad the players participated in these commercials. Where’s Rose?

Rose is a part of Adidas so he couldn’t be in these commercials. But if Adidas is smart they will put together D. Rose, Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett and make their own version soon.

These show that anybody can play basketball no matter of age. This captures the love of the game in a perfect sense. Great Post!
